The London-based Skyrocket Entertainment has announced the formation of new casino game development firm Skyrocket Studios and their first game American Gods, based on the television show of the same name.
Founded in 2018, Skyrocket Entertainment was created to transform Hollywood films and branded properties into real money and social games. This month, the organisation founded Skyrocket Studios, a firm that will focus on developing and releasing 20 branded slots per year, starting with American Gods.
The upcoming slot is based on the television show of the same name from Amazon Prime Video and Starz, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel. Production on the game has begun, and the slot is set to release in Q4 2021, EuropeanGaming reports.
The American Gods slot will be developed by Skyrocket Studios in collaboration with the London-based Bang Bang Games, a studio responsible for games such as Deal Or No Deal, Dumb And Dumber, and more.
Details about the slot are scarce, but the game, much like the television show and book, will be themed on the battle between the Old and New Gods. It will feature four special features played out on an expanded reel set, including the Mad Sweeney’s Lucky Coin, the Divine Power Mega Bonus, and the Old God and New Gold Free Spins modes.
Like most other branded video slots, the American Gods game will feature visuals based on the television show’s characters, including Shadow Moon, Mr Wednesday, Mad Sweeney, Bilquis, and Quantum Boy.
Skyrocket CEO Sean O’Kelly said in a statement: “We are excited to launch Skyrocket Studios, the world’s first games studio to specialise solely in premium branded games. American Gods is loved by audiences worldwide and we’re thrilled to be opening this up to new audiences through the gaming market. The first of many more super brands to come.”
The online gambling industry has seen the launch of numerous branded video slots. Studios like NetEnt have released a slew of licensed slots, including Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen, Guns N Roses, Jumanji, Narcos, and more. Playtech has also released a slew of licensed slots, including its series of comic book-inspired DC and Marvel slots.
As noted by European Gaming, Skyrocket Studios will release licensed slots based on television, film, music, and sports brands. It’s currently unknown which jurisdictions Skyrocket Studios will launch its content in, but we can expect more information in the coming months.
