UK Gambling Commission Suspends Goldchip’s Operating Licence

Goldchip Gambling Commission Licence

The UK Gambling Commission has announced that it’s suspended Goldchip’s operating licence.

The gambling regulator announced the news earlier this week, revealing that it will be carrying out a review of the operator but has suspended its operations within the United Kingdom.

According to the Commission, the review and consequent suspension, carried out according to section 118 (2) of the Gambling Act 2005, follows concerns that the operator carried out activities contrary to the Gambling Act 2005 and not in accordance with its licence conditions.

The Commission also believes the operator may be unsuitable to carry out the licensed activities, and that suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering findings were considerations in the suspension and review.

If you head to the Goldchip.com website, you’re greeted by a screen informing you that its licence has been suspended by the Gambling Commission, along with the following statement: “Goldchip are working with the UK Gambling Commission to resolve this situation as soon as possible.”

The website also urges registered users to contact Account Managers for further information or contact the operator directly via email at [email protected].

What They Say

A short statement in the news post reads: “We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them.

“The suspension does not prevent the operator from allowing consumers to access their accounts and withdrawing funds. Goldchip Limited – which operates goldchip.com – can be contacted through its website.”

The news comes after the Gambling Commission fined gambling operators Progress Play and Jumpman Gaming for multiple failings.
