Wazdan has received a license to operate in Sweden.
The popular game provider, which developed and released slots such as Black Hawk Deluxe and Captain Flynt, announced the news this week, revealing it is now allowed to offer its games to players based in Sweden.
Wazdan acquired the license from Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen after applying earlier this year and has immediately made its games available at casinos partners Hero Gaming, Mr Green and Kindred Group.
In a statement, Andrzej Hyla, the Head of Sales at Wazdan, said: “We are excited to announce our Swedish certification, which allows us to strengthen our position in the Swedish market and expand the reach of our games through our existing operators.
“The Swedish certification opens up doors for our team to increase what we offer our partners, and also to develop new relationships with operators to bring Wazdan high-quality games to the Swedish players.”
The announcement comes as Wazdan continues to strengthen its reach around the world. The firm already owns licenses from the Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission, and recently earned licenses to operate in Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Estonia and Curacao.
Meanwhile, the firm has continued to reach new customers after launching on various casino sites including ComeOn Casino, 32Red, Roxy Palace, Casino Heroes, Mr Green Casino and so many more.
In June 2018, a new Swedish Gambling Act was voted through Parliament and came into force on January 1st, 2019. The new rule required all casino operators to require a valid license from the Swedish gambling regulator Spelinskeptionen.
The firm began accepting license applications in August 2018 but they were not enforced until January 2019. At the time of writing, casino operators such as LeoVegas, Videoslots, SpinStation, 888 Casino, ComeOn!, PlayOJO, Mr Green, Temple Nile, Metal Casino, Hyper Casino and many more have all acquired licenses.
Earlier this month, however, the Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) suspended its sportsbook services on its Rizk and Guts casino websites after the firm was hit with a SEK3.5 million fine (Over $370,000) by Spelinskeptionen for allowing customers to bet on sporting events that featured players under 18.
Prior to that, Skill On Net and NGG Nordic, a subsidiary of Betsson, over bonus violations. According to reports, brands under the operators were giving out multiple welcome bonuses to Swedish customers even though operators can legally only offer one welcome bonus to new customers.
This resulted in NNG being fined SEK19 million and Skill On Net being fined SEK14 million.
