A football partnership between Tottenham Hotspur and 1XBet has been terminated, new reports have suggested.
The online betting site has reportedly lost its sponsorship with the football team after a Sunday Times investigation found that the bookmaker had been acting irresponsibly by employing topless croupiers, allowing bets on children’s sports and advertising on illegal websites.
The two firms first announced their partnership in August 2018 which allowed the bookmaker to use images of the team’s players in advertisements through to 2022. If reports are true, the partnership is no longer in effect.
Unfortunately, 1XBet and Tottenham Hotspur have both refused to comment on the recent development.
Meanwhile, the online bookmaker is currently facing an investigation by the UK Gambling Commission over its behaviour and ties to its operator FSB Technology. As a result, the bookmaker’s website has been suspended for the time being in the UK.
The trouble began when the Sunday Times, a UK newspaper, revealed last month a number of issues regarding the bookmaker. Reports described the site as a “pornhub casino” due to topless croupiers and advertisements featuring nudity.
However, a spokesperson for the bookmaker told the Sunday Times that the issues were a result of “third-party networks” before promising to investigate the alleged issues. The firm denied the allegations and stated that it was working with the UK Gambling Commission to address the allegations and secure a gambling license to operate in the UK.
Meanwhile, the UK Gambling Commission has launched an investigation into FSB Technology due to offering services not offered under its license as well as its connection to 1XBet.
Throughout all of this, FSB Technology has told its and 1XBet’s customers not to worry about account balances. However, it’s unknown when 1XBet will be returning or whether it will remain completely closed to the UK.
