This year saw game development studios launch more jackpot games than the years before, and with them came more big-sum jackpot wins.
With 2022 coming to an end, we thought we’d take a look back at five of the biggest jackpot wins of the year. Since these big wins so rarely happen, it’s time to celebrate them!
In July 2022, Relax Gaming announced that a lucky player on a White Hat Gaming mobile casino won a €924,386.51 jackpot on the Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop video slot.
The player, who remained anonymous, managed to land the Mega jackpot, which is the largest of the Dream Drops’ five prizes; Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major, and Mega. The gigantic win was the second Mega jackpot win paid by Relax Gaming at the time, although it’s one of the smallest on this list.
The game was the first title by Relax Gaming to utilise the Dream Drop jackpot mechanic. It follows two adventurers as they search for winnings, and the game uses a 6×6 layout with 46,656 paylines and an RTP of 94.80%. Its special features alongside the Dream Drop mechanic include wild symbols, a free spins mode, multipliers, symbol transformations, and more.
In June 2022, Relax Gaming announced that it had paid out the first Mega jackpot win on its Dream Dream slot series.
The €997,779 win was made on the studio’s Snake Arena Dream Drop over at Videoslots, and Relax Gaming Chief Product Officer Simon Hammon said he was “delighted” about the announcement, although several other Dream Drop jackpot wins have quickly surpassed the total.
The game is a revamp of 2020’s Snake Arena game but with the Dream Drop jackpot mechanic. The slot uses a 5×5 grid layout with 30 paylines and an RTP of 94%, and it comes with features like a free spins mode, wild symbols, wild reels, and plenty more to help make wins.
In October 2022, developer Relax Gaming announced that it had paid out its fourth Dream Drop Mega jackpot of the year.
As we reported, the lucky casino player in question was an anonymous user at Vavada Casino, who won the seven-figure sum on a stake of €0.33 on the Dream Drop Diamonds video slot, which was released in the same month.
The game offers players a “taste of the high life”, and it uses a 5×5 grid with 3,125 paylines and an RTP of 93.98%. In addition to coming with the Dream Drop jackpot bonus, the slot includes prize ladders, a free spins mode, wild symbols, and more to keep you busy.
In September 2022, an anonymous casino player located in Ireland triggered a gigantic €1,486,291 Mega jackpot at Betsafe casino, operated by the Betsson Group.
The jackpot was won on Relax Gaming’s Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop and marked the second Mega jackpot win on the game after the slot’s release back in May this year.
The large payout is so far the largest jackpot won on a Relax Gaming casino title. Less than six months after the launch of the Dream Drop mechanic, Relax Gaming revealed in October that it had hit its target of making one million individual jackpot winners, and the studio will likely continue to grow that number throughout 2023.
In February 2022, a lucky casino player managed to become Microgaming’s first multi-millionaire after triggering a €7,296,286 jackpot.
The seven-figure sum was triggered on the classic Mega Moolah game, which was launched back in 2007, and the player, as revealed by Microgaming, became the progressive jackpot’s 70th instant euro millionaire.
Mega Moolah is one of Microgaming’s most famous casino games – now owned by Games Global – and its popularity has led to the release of numerous sequels, including Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah. Although the win is the biggest on this list, it does not surpass the jaw-dropping €18,915,872 jackpot won back in October 2018 at Grand Mondial Casino.
