Gambling website Betano has been named the first official betting partner of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The agreement has been described as a “major milestone” in the tournament’s commercial history, and it sees the sportsbook – operated by Kaizen Gaming – become the first betting partner as an official Regional Supporter for Europe.
Betano, which operates in several European and Latin American countries, has said it will utilise the partnership to “engage and excite” fans around the world for the duration of the football competition.
The news comes as Betano has continued to strike major agreements with sports teams around the world to boost its reach.
Luis Rodriguez, the Head of Partnership Development at FIFA, said in a statement via Gambling Insider: “FIFA and Betano have a shared ethos of using technology to enhance the fan experience, and we’re excited to see what they have planned to engage fans around the region.
“On the eve of the FIFA World Cup, this is an exciting announcement as we enter a new industry.”
George Daskalakis, the CEO and Co-Founder of Kaizen Gaming, added: “We are proud to be the first sports betting operator to partner with FIFA on the world’s biggest football event.
