A Dublin man found out he was Ireland’s latest lottery winner when he checked his Lotto numbers on Aertel.
The man purchased the winning Daily Millions ticket in the Costcutter in Phisborough, Dublin. The millionaire plans to share his newly gained fortune with his family.
He thought he was going to be told that he had made a mistake when he headed to the Lotto headquarter with his winning ticket. The man still couldn’t believe he had won even after collecting his massive win of €1,000,000.
“Even now that I have a cheque in my hand worth a million quid, I don’t think it’ll really hit home until all those lovely zeros appear in my bank account.” he said.
The lucky winner said the moment he realised he had won such a prize was “truly indescribable”. “After I got home from work on Thursday night, I checked the numbers on Aertel and each and every one of my numbers were there in a row. My heart genuinely stopped for a couple of seconds and my stomach was in absolute knots.”
The next morning, he read in the newspaper that the Costcutter he visited had sold the winning Daily Millions ticket. It further convinced him that he was probably the lucky winner.
The man did not tell anyone he had won. He was waiting to surprise his friends and family after he collected his winnings.
He added: “The million euro will certainly be put to good use! I haven’t told a soul so I can’t wait to get the family together and hand them each an envelope with a cheque inside.”
Despite the fact that he is now a millionaire, the man said his everyday life would remain the same.
“It’s a dream come true for me to help people out like that. It’s a massive bonus alright but it won’t affect my day to day life and I’ll be back to work in the morning as usual.”
