Online gambling company The Stars Group launches mobile sports betting app in New Jersey.
The Stars Group, one of the oldest online gambling companies, revealed that it would launch its BetStars app on Thursday night (September 13) to tackle the rapidly expanding sports betting market in New Jersey.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Matt Primeaux, the company’s senior vice president for US strategy and operations, said: “We are excited to introduce BetStars to New Jersey sports fans.
“As one of the largest online gaming companies in the world with millions of customers worldwide, we have successfully launched BetStars in regulated markets across Europe and look forward to expanding and enhancing our New Jersey BetStars offering.”
The sportsbook app operates on The Stars Group’s proprietary platform and uses its player account management solution, which allows users to access casino, poker and sports betting products from a single account.
Alongside the launch of the app, The Stars Group released a series of new promotions such as a sign-up bonus and odds boosts designed to attract new customers.
The news comes after the US state legalised sports betting back in June, prompting MGM to release their own sportsbook app called playMGM. MGM’s app is currently only available for Android devices and lacks a browser-based option, though MGM has revealed that the apps for other systems will be released “shortly”.
Other casino operators followed, including 888Casino who expanded into the country by launching their very own sports betting website.
Meanwhile, an Atlantic City casino made headlines this week after announcing they were offering shelter to Hurricane Florence evacuees. Several days later, however, the resort revealed they had been completely booked and had no more available space.
