Game developers Yggdrasil and Peter & Sons have partnered to release their new Norse-themed online slot, Valkyries.
According to Yggdrasil, the brand new game retells the dramatic story of Wagner’s famous opera, The Valkyrie. The game follows the epic tale of the legendary Valkyries welcoming fallen heroes into Valhalla, which is also home to plenty of riches and secrets to uncover.
The game, which has been released as part of the YG Masters program, was developed by Peter & Sons. It uses a 5×3 layout with 10 paylines, and it has an RTP of 96% with high variance, which means you’re more likely to make infrequent large wins over regular small ones.
Valkyries requires a bet of between £0.10 and £50 per spin, and symbols in the game include Odin, four Valkyries in a yellow, red, blue, and orange headdress, as well as red and blue headdresses, and the traditional A, K, Q, J, and 10 symbols.
Valkyries comes with several special features. For example, Dropping Wilds can randomly appear on any reels and substitute for all other symbols except the Scatter. During the main game, each new Dropping Wild on a base spin walks one position downwards on the next spin until it leaves the reels. When Dropping Wilds appear on the Power Reel, they move to the top of the position of the corresponding vertical reel, and they can include a Multiplier of between 1x and 10x.
In addition, there are Locking Wild symbols, which appear only when the Wild Reel is active. When a Locking Wild appears on the Wild Reel, it moves to any position of the corresponding vertical reel and remains sticky until the feature ends. Locking Wilds can include a Multiplier of between 1x and 10x.
Landing two Scatter symbols on the reels trigger a respin with the Wild Reel, a horizontal reel below the panel. The Power Reel spins and stops once during the feature and comes with different modifiers, including Dropping Wilds with Multipliers, Locking Wilds with Multipliers, and empty spaces too. Wild Respins are triggered and respun until there are no more Dropping Wilds left on the panel.
There are Wild Respins, in which the game respins until there are no more Dropping Wilds on the panel. In addition, there are Wild Overlaps, which can overlap a Locking Wild and merge to offer Multipliers.
Finally, landing three or more Scatter symbols in the main game triggers the Free Spins mode with 10 spins. The spins are played with the same bet as the activating bet, and the Power Reel is unlocked during the entire feature. Every Locking Wild that appears on the reels adds two additional free spins. You can also buy the Free Spins mode and unlock 10 spins.
